Everybody’s heard of Milford Sound and Mitre Peak, or maybe not everyone, but I bet most would have heard of them… but where are they?
Fiordland! Yep, believe it or not they’re in good old kiwi land, NZ! South-west corner of the South Island to be more precise; and the fishing there is second to none in NZ, maybe the world.
If you’re looking for the fishing adventure of a lifetime then give it some thought….(P) Fiordland is a very remote area with virtually no road access; so only the dedicated fisho makes the effort to come to this truly awesome place. With Terakihi, Trumpeter, Blue Cod and Groper in plentiful supply the food available for the table is never ending. And we haven’t even got to the scallops, oysters, mussels and crays yet. Yes they are plentiful too and you can catch enough to say “enough.”
Imagine dining on fresh seafood for the duration of the trip, imbibing a few of your favourite brewski’s while you catch fish so big you won’t have to lie about them. Well Fiordland is the place to go to.
With 40lb Groper and 10lb Blue Cod in ready supply it doesn’t take long to get the catch for the table which means you can get on with diving….
Jaques Cousteau, now you’ve all heard of him haven’t you?... was quoted as saying Fiordland is one of his top ten destinations to dive in the world. With black and red corals, sea anenomies, brachiopods and yes plenty of spiny rock lobster; visibility in excess of 40m most of the time and breathtaking wall dives, you will not be disappointed with diving in Fiordland.
