As of 1 August 2007 recreational fishers now require a once only recreational fishing licence and permit, issued by the Northern Land Council, which is valid until at least two months after the High Court decision. The High Court decision is expected to be heard towards the end of 2007. The recreational fishing licence and permit is free and automatically granted by the Northern Land Council. All current fishing controls, such as bag limits, are still in place and must be observed.
